Global Lithuanian Net WebDB'2000 In conjunction with ACM SIGMOD'2000 With the advent of the Web, data management has branched out from a traditional relational-server framework to deal with the variety of information available on the WWW. At the same time, database systems have come forward in a new role as the primary source for the information provided on the Web. Most today's Web accesses trigger some form of content generation from a database, while electronic commerce often trigger intensive DBMS-based applications. The research community has begun to revise data models, query languages, data integration, indexes, query processing, and transaction concepts in order to cope with the characteristics and scale of the data on the Web. New problems have been identified, like coping with limited source capabilities, information overlap, management of huge masses of data, and copy detection. This workshop is intended to bring together researchers interested in the interaction between databases and the Web. TOPICS OF INTEREST include (but are not limited to)
